What a day for cricket at Bridgewater!
A brilliant late ton to Josh Sellar was a highlight in the A3s. Meanwhile at the big T20 doubleheader Charlie Moule-Hooworth (54 off 35) and Chris Murray (33 and 3 wickets) helped to kick the day off with an impressive A2 win. The A1s then thrilled the big crowd with an almighty comeback - claiming the last 5 Meadows wickets for just 2 runs to then go on and win by just 3 runs. Ty Watson claimed player of the match with a half century and 4 wickets, with Jarrad Tait’s 45 and 1/8 off 4 also pivotal. Classic catches from Ty and A grade debutant Ollie Glover helped turn the match and make it a day to remember at Bridgewater Oval. Congratulations to Kali Atkins for organising the Ladies Day event along with Ling, Emma and Kelly - winners all round!

Five wickets to Ty Watson supported by a tight spell of 2/14 from 9 overs by Liam Risson in the A1s, and half centuries to Phil Jonas (63) and Luke Chester in the A3s were the highlights of this weekend’s senior matches.

Some sensational performances with the bat yesterday. In the A grade Ty Watson made a brilliant 142 off 141 and was part of a match-winning partnership with Justin Summerill (56 from 70). Ty and Benji Slater then followed up with 3 wickets each to seal the superb win against Meadows. In the A2s Liam Sutcliffe was the batting hero scoring an unbeaten 80 against Aldgate, with good support from Shannon Cox who also took 3 important wickets in the win.

Round 2 saw the A-grade get their first win of the season against Aldgate. Aldgate won the toss and batted first. Extremely tight bowling put pressure on Aldgate all innings and allowed late-inning’s bowlers Caleb Risson (4/16) and A-grade debutant Flynn Smith (3/34) to finish off a great overall bowling performance from the Raiders. The run-chase saw the Raiders make the required total in the 23rd over thanks to scores in the 20’s from Atkins, Hoyle, Summerill and Tait.

At Ironbank the B-grade bowled out last year’s grand finalists for 141 with Sam Witt (3/39) and Brent Sutcliffe (3/27) the key wicket takers. Unfortunately, it wasn’t our day with the bat, getting bowled out early in the chase. The C-grade put up a great fight against Stirling but couldn’t quite replicate round 1’s miraculous run chase. Opener Simon Rankin (57) and captain Matt Nadge (80 off 53, including 15 boundaries) were the key contributors with the bat.

This shows magnificent growth on the social media side of the club, allowing more exposure to the public. (More exposure = More players, sponsors, families and events)

This new rebrand of the ‘Raiders’ has taken the club in a new direction which we will work hard on improving even more as we look towards a bright future of the Bridgewater Raiders Cricket Club.

Here are your senior results from their final games on the weekend!

A grade struggled as Stirling set a strong total of 300, which the boys were happy to keep them to after a huge 126 run opening partnership for the Eagles. Liam Risson and Shannon Cox led the attack with 4 and 3 wickets respectively. Cox was a huge standout as he took a step up in his final game playing A Grade and contributed really well.

Chasing 300 was always going to be a difficult task with such limited overs. However opening batsman Ty Watson showed his raw talent with 101*. Wickets fell and the middle order struggled to get past 20 runs until Caleb Risson came out with Watson to contribute to a 101 run 6th wicket partnership with 57 off 51 deliveries, his first senior 50… unfortunately the partnership wasn’t enough as they fell short.

The B Grade had hopes high against SCIB as they have been in some very close games every matchup through the year, unfortunately they fell just short in another nail biter, going down by 1 wicket.

Liam Sutcliffe finally got past his dreaded score of 49 and batted through to make 61 in what was his highest tally of the year. Giving the 2’s some hope as they went out to bowl. Oliver Glover on debut was fantastic with a solid 31 off 24 deliveries showing the talent he can produce for the seniors sides next season.

Shane Sweet was the star of the bowlers taking the figures of 4-18 (5) under his belt, again, unluckily these efforts weren’t enough as SCIB proved to be the stronger side they have shown through the season.

THE SUPER C’s!

Runs were piled on from the word go as the three top bats all scored 50’s with Matt Loughry being the star of the show scoring 90 runs off just 47 balls, capitalising with the consistency he has shown all year, Josh Sellar (64) and Luke Chester (50) followed his footsteps.

Fair to say Oscar Kerr has had a year to remember, finishing with the figures of 3-27 as he guided the C Grade towards an massive 89 run victory over Meadows, the perfect way to finish off the year!!!

Wickets fell and the middle order struggled to get past 20 runs until Caleb Risson came out with Watson to contribute to a 101 run 6th wicket partnership with 57 off 51 deliveries, his first senior 50… unfortunately the partnership wasn’t enough as they fell short.

The B Grade had hopes high against SCIB as they have been in some very close games every matchup through the year, unfortunately they fell just short in another nail biter, going down by 1 wicket.

Liam Sutcliffe finally got past his dreaded score of 49 and batted through to make 61 in what was his highest tally of the year. Giving the 2’s some hope as they went out to bowl. Oliver Glover on debut was fantastic with a solid 31 off 24 deliveries showing the talent he can produce for the seniors sides next season.

Shane Sweet was the star of the bowlers taking the figures of 4-18 (5) under his belt, again, unluckily these efforts weren’t enough as SCIB proved to be the stronger side they have shown through the season.

Runs were piled on from the word go as the three top bats all scored 50’s with Matt Loughry being the star of the show scoring 90 runs off just 47 balls, capitalising with the consistency he has shown all year, Josh Sellar (64) and Luke Chester (50) followed his footsteps.

Fair to say Oscar Kerr has had a year to remember, finishing with the figures of 3-27 as he guided the C Grade towards an massive 89 run victory over Meadows, the perfect way to finish off the year!!!

This is the end of the road for our three senior teams in the 23/24 cricket season.

No luck in our finals hopes for this season and we hope to come back bigger and better next year!
